In the heat of the summer, motorists seething in traffic jams may need help
to keep their cool and avoid outbursts of road rage, reasons Japanese inventor
Tatsunori Suzuki. His solution is to replace some of the instruments on the
dashboard with a video recording of tropical fish (W0 97/25593). The speed at
which the fish swim depends on the temperature inside the car鈥攁t higher
temperatures the fish swim faster. They can also be made to reflect the
performance of the car by swimming faster as the driver accelerates.
