David Robinson of Baltimore thinks saxophonists make noisy neighbours. Sax
players can put a mute in the sound bell when they practise, but this is only
partly effective and does not cut the irritating sound of the keys and air pads
opening and closing. Robinson proposes a transparent vinyl polymer muffler bag
that envelopes the entire instrument, except for the mouthpiece (WO 99/14733).
Two pockets in the side give the musician unrestricted access to all the keys.
The instrument can then be played loudly, because only half of the sound will
escape.
