Cosmonaut Alexei Leonov and astronaut David Scott took part in a nationalistic race for space. Leonov was the first to walk in space, Scott commanded Apollo 15. What is striking about Two Sides of the Moon (Pocket Books, 拢8.99) is not competition, however, but cooperation. Leonov and Scott tell their stories, and recount how they met, planning the Apollo-Soyuz mission that saw two spacecraft united in a gesture of peace.
