By mimicking a chameleon鈥檚 tongue, a robotic manipulator could be used for delicate manufacturing, or even bug-catching.
In this animation, an inductive coil gun fires a magnetic 鈥渢ongue tip鈥�, while the attached elastomer reduces impact force. The elastomer is attached to a string and is reeled back in by a motor controlled by the driver.
