I鈥檝e been watching , a Netflix documentary about problems with Boeing鈥檚 737 Max 8 airliner that led to two crashes, in 2018 and 2019, killing a total of 346 people.
None of which is likely to alleviate new anxieties after the mid-air blowout of a fuselage panel on a Boeing 737 Max 9 last month, leading to loose bolts being found on other Max 9s. In fact, it adds wrath as you learn the full extent of how a trusted and respected company responded to demands from investors for constant growth.
Thankfully, I have also found some escape in fiction. Robin McKinley鈥檚 tells the story of a modern vampire hunter whose magical abilities help her use the internet to hunt evil, bend space to reach it and (even more implausibly) punch her way through a legion of mafia vampires.

Wry humour and luscious descriptions of baked goods (cinnamon rolls as big as your head) guide readers through the darkness.
