Researchers around the world applying for grant money from the
Australian Antarctic Division no longer have to bother with loads of
paperwork—they can do it all via the Internet. The division, based in
Hobart, has placed what is called an interactive form on the Net. Proposals can
be written, checked, revised, submitted and assessed electronically. This year,
the first year of the new system, 88 per cent of applicants for funds used the
Net. The application form can be found at
