Electrified scissors will enable surgeons to cut and seal blood vessels at
the same time, claims a medical device manufacturer based in Edinburgh. Ethicon
says its PowerStar scissors apply a low voltage which makes blood coagulate at
the site of the cut. The company says this will result in operations that are
quicker and safer.
