Time to chill out

By Barry Fox

22 May 1999

Your finger could soon be telling you that you’re stressed out and need to
relax. Mei-Yen Chen of Taiwan reckons that raised finger temperature is related
to stress, so he has designed a ring with a heat-sensitive transistor on the
underside and an LED on top (GB 2328282). When the temperature passes a certain
threshold, the LED flashes, reminding the wearer to relax “so as to avoid any
discomfort caused by physical and mental tension”.
