The FBI is warning American companies to watch out for hackers from the
Middle East. Mirroring the violence that has gripped Israel and the Palestinian
territories for weeks, hackers from the two sides are locked in an aggressive
cyber-war. Websites under attack include those belonging to the Israeli prime
minister and the Palestinian Hizbullah and Hamas organisations. Now the FBI and
others are worried that the battle may spread to the rest of the virtual world
(see www.nipc.gov/warnings/assessments/2000/00-057.htm), especially to
companies with business in Israel.
