Senior video producer
David Stock is the head of editorial video for New Scientist, previously holding the roles of digital visuals editor and picture researcher. Before that, he was a picture editor for The Argus in Brighton, UK. He is a film-maker and photographer who has been published in national and international magazines, newspapers and websites, including The Guardian, Der Spiegel, Politiken and the BBC. In 2022, David was shortlisted for the Taylor Wessing photographic prize. His ongoing multimedia series, , looks at the role London’s historical social architecture and municipal buildings plays in community building and identity.
David has written and produced an array of visual stories for New Scientist and others covering everything from river pollution to the application of AI technology, and he writes about photography, technology, culture and social issues.
In 2023, David was nominated for the (ABSW) video of the year award and won the . He is a fellow of the Royal Geographic Society and a judge on the . He has a BA in communications and sociology from Goldsmiths, University of London.
