Helen Thomson was previously head of features at New Scientist, and specialises in life sciences, health and biotech. She has a BSc in neuroscience from the University of Bristol, UK, and an MSc in science communication from Imperial College London. She has worked as a journalist and editor at New Scientist both as a member of staff and as a consultant since 2007.
